i've spotted recently that a care home has been created in peterborough uk for jehovah's witnesses.. the following information is from various websites:.
113-115 eastfield road, peterborough pe1 4au.
(older people).
The care home that is prominent is the Jah Jireh which is exclusive for Jdubs.I did not know that the one at Peterborough belonged to them as it is not listed on the Jah Jireh web site.Mr Delaney originally ran a guest house in a seaside town in the North of England and because he happened to be a Jdub he decided to go for the niche market and make it exclusively a care home for the needy elderly Witnesses. Due to the fact that Armageddon is somewhat delayed he has managed to expand his opperations and continues to run it on a charitable basis
Because it is a registered charity it has a board of trustees, some or all seem to derive an income from it, all the accounts are audited and posted on the Charity Commissions web site each year .
Whether the Society is behind it is anybodys guess but they have had a top brother from the London bethel at one of it's innaugarations so it must have some kind of approval.
The thing I find curious is the fact that one of the trustees is a certain C S Brown who happens to have a British honours title after his name from the Queen and is listed together with his title to the nearby Cleveleys Congregation which has the Charity Commission Number 1066119.
I have asked this question before ,"why is a JW holding the title Member of The British Empire ?" and not only that but putting it on the congregations yearly accounts for all to see because I thought the British Empire according to the Jdubs was part of an evil empire along with America. So far I haven't been able to obtain an answer.
We have to follow Jesus The Prince of Peace ; hello head of an army!
We must not help in the manufacture of something that would harm another human being ; hello weakness goodbye freedom come in and walk all over us, concentration camps anyone?
According to the Witless argument it is right and proper for everyone in the United States to cease defence work and not to even think of participating in anything millitary .Could anybody who holds this view be sectioned under the mental health act and do they not learn anything from history ? oops! too late the weak have been obliterated.
it seems like almost every hall i went to had a mold problem.
i couldn't even enter the last hall i attended without getting sick.
i had to listen.
Yes there was this elderly grumpy old annointed one who had been around since 1914 and he is even more mouldy now as he has been pushing daisys up since 1966.
just curious.
.
open mind.
Here in the Uk it didn't bother me at the time because I thought I had the truth but I used to hear many comments about the J. Witnesses using American sales methods to sell a religious cult.
Do the Yanks have a monopoly on sales technique or have the rest of us caught up with you?
5 other buildings remain on the market.
by linda collins.
brooklyn daily eagle.
Let us imagine for one moment that the organisation which is buying the buildings belong to or is tied in with the Org.This would allow the religious book club to opperate and get mega rich rentals and resales within the real estate business while still appearing to be mainly a religious organisation.
There are businesses which start out making money from one line of operation then diversify and end up making more money from all the diversifications as do Saga, RAC, Automobile Assoc. here in the Uk.
The Brooklyn Boys must have contingency plans just in case the book club goes belly up.That way the guys at the top still get to control all the lucrative assets.
So I say to all you door bell ringers WAKE UP it's reality time.
the generation seeing the sign .
' previously, this journal has explained that in the first century, "this generation" mentioned at matthew 24:34 meant "the contemporaneous generation of unbelieving jews.
not the whole magazine, but this is the new light article.. .
If they were to do a correct method of instruction when they have this waktower study they should at the end of it ask if anybody has got any questions or if anybody is still confused thereby clearing away any misleading misconceptions. It would be interesting to ask the question directly from the floor " why did we believe in the old understanding in the first instance? " Someone could ask "is this the very last interpretation of the generation teaching?" or ask "how much confidence should we have in this current understanding?"
The problem is that nobody openly asks at any meeting any really challenging questions. The only answers and questions given are those already thought out for the congregation .It's a bit like someone holding a banana standing on the platform and saying "what have I got in my hand?" and having the word banana written in big letters displayed for all to see. They use the same method when they change theology by saying " we used to call it a banana but now it's a lovely bunch of coconuts, what is it boys and girls? altogether now.
Does this mean it's the truth like last time?
i've finished writing my novel (50 thousand words) about my years spent in federal correctional prison when i was an obedient little jw.. the editing and rewriting stage now commences.. i need your help!.
here is how you can help me.. i can't know what an outside mind wants to find out concerning this experience.
i can only conjure up what seems interesting to me.. tell me what you want to know about such a personal experience.. that will give me a checklist to compare to what i've written already.. i may have missed many little details which are very important to a reader.. i may have neglected essential questions which must be answered in order to satisfy the mind.. please offer me your curiousity.. thanking you in advance; i appreciate your taking the time to advance my novel to the finish line.. (i wrote it as a fictional work because i could not honestly write about myself without the distance of this device.. so, i made myself into a character with a different name.. the identity of everyone else is non-fiction.
Hi Terry,
First off I'm sorry that you had to endure those events way back then in your life.Your timeline matches mine .I was sixteen when I started going to the meetings and not long after that was baptised , I lived in the uk and I reckon I'm your age .We had compulsory national service but it was abolished just before I was eligible for the call up. Luckily I missed it but I felt at the time that I would have gone to prison if need be and I often wondered about all the American Brothers and how they must be feeling having to serve a prison sentence. I don't envy you having to put up with it and it seems strange after all these years actually reading your account.
If it it brings any consolation my doubts about the witnesses started with a brother who fell away ,he had been inside for the same reason as you and I couldn't understand why he left the so called truth after he had been so convinced of it.I realised that he no longer believed and it must have been for a damn good reason this started alarm bells ringing in my head and I started thinking what does he know that I don't.I started questioning and eventually left and ironically a few years later of my own choosing joined the armed forces. What I am trying to say is that maybe you leaving the Witnesses after serving time for their beliefs set others on the road out of the nonsense.
What I would like to know is did you realise it wasn't the truth while you were locked up if so you must have felt gutted and alone or did you realise some time after when you were let out?
The crazyiness of it all is that I bet no one in the Jdubs gave a fig about your stand especially once you started to question the big lie.
Best Wishes Edmond.

2 years ago i left jws.
i went to a baptist church because it was what my husband was.
i knew i wanted to go to church but which one i really didn't know yet.. two years later, i think i have made up my mind: presbyterian.. anyone have anything they want to share?
HI renee,
You should find a big difference for one thing you will be with normal people ,well when I say normal you will meet the odd eccentric but they will be human unlike the JWs'.The congregation will be full of people for the most part who are there with a loving caring attitude.Of course there will be cliques and a bit of rivalry sometimes the same as you get in all walks of life but the act of coming together to worship in a church as apposed to a meeting in a sales enviroment will be uplifting. You should enjoy the fellowship and not take things too seriously . The way children are treated is totally different to the Jdubs way of doing things, the mainstream churches involve the children in a way that will make them interested in the being there you also get to say things like Happy Christmas, and have a lovely Easter and Peace be with you.
And by the way taking communion will be something you will want to do regulary once you progress within the church,Don't be put off if anything seems a bit strange or if someone seems a bit off hand, give it time and you will feel the spiritual benefit. They have great hymns to sing as well and a very important part of it all is that you will make a lot of new friends, and I mean real friends not at all like the ones at the KH.
Peace be with you.
